This was my first collection, the concept behind this was to show a point of view by not only studying my own Dominican culture, but also exploring others and bringing them together. It started with two main references, an arthouse Soviet film called “The Color of Pomegranates” and a Dominican Bachata music album called “Medicina De Amor.” The main character in the film and the musician Raulin Rodriguez both feel pain and agony and they express it in their art. It was important to convey these emotions when creating the images.
